There is one Certified Nurse Midwife practicing within the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology - Cynthia J. Miller. Cindy has practiced nurse-midwifery for over 20 years and is also a registered nurse in women’s health prior to nurse-midwifery training. She is a board certified by the American College of Nurse Midwives.

This practice is unique in that Cynthia is based within the University system and has access to the resources of that system as well as the College of Medicine faculty and practices. University Physicians HealthCare contracts with nearly every insurance plan so that most women are eligible to receive care from Cindy.

University Medical Center is a level three tertiary care center with a full service Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Certified Nurse Midwives have complete medical staff privileges at UMC, the only hospital in the state to grant medical staff privileges to nurse-midwives!
